MANAMA: Diyar Al Muharraq announced the Souq Al Baraha project is on track for completion by June next year.
Construction work is now 40 per cent complete and the developer is confident of meeting the delivery schedule with Al Moayyed Contracting as the main contractor.
A substantial number of spaces in the project have already been leased to local and international investors.
Located at the centre of Diyar Al Muharraq in close proximity to the main residential, commercial and entertainment hubs within the masterplan, the marketplace contains both indoor commercial spaces and outdoor kiosks.
The market will include a special section showcasing Bahraini heritage with a market for handicrafts and gold jewellery, as well as a variety of traditional Bahraini products, foods and handwoven textiles, all under one roof.
Special areas will also be allocated for fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as fish, meat and poultry.
Diyar AL Muharraq also plans to position Souq Al Baraha as a tourist destination for visitors from the GCC and beyond.
The developer’s chief executive Ahmed Al Ammadi said: “We are happy to see that progress of construction works on Souq Al Baraha is well within the agreed timeframes, which further reflects Diyar Al Muharraq’s commitment to timely delivery of all projects while adhering to the highest quality standards.
Souq Al Baraha is a unique addition to the Diyar Al Muharraq project portfolio, and its design aesthetics and traditional architecture reflects the culture of the people of Bahrain.
The market offers total leasable space of 13,431sqm and comprises 468 stores and 20 office units.
It also includes parking bays for 686 cars.
