MANAMA: Muharraq Engineering Services (MES), a Bahraini family-owned business, has become the first in the region to manufacture a 500 ton pipe/shaft straightening press.
The machine is fully manufactured by MES except for the pump and motor.
Designed to straighten or bend hard rods and heavy oil drilling tubes, the machine can carry out other levelling and bending tasks.
Manufactured at the MES facility in the Mina Salman industrial area, the machine has been exported to Smith International Middle East – Saudi Arabia, Smith International Middle East – Kuwait, Energy Alois, the UAE, and a company in Singapore.
A company spokesman said using in-house engineering design, the company has improved the specifications to make the machine more convenient and easier to operate, while consuming less time to straighten shafts and pipes.
The redesign also turned the machine from a mechanical device into a fully electrical and hydraulic system.
