THE challenge thrown by Covid-19 is not to science or governments but to every individual citizen of the world. It is challenging our common sense, our tenacity and objective of living in this world.
But, alas, I think we have failed miserably in this challenge. I see people finding excuse to meet, and visiting families and friends or letting children meet.
Covid-19 thrives on contact and, therefore, the magic wand for restoring normalcy is not with the government or the doctors and vaccine being available, but us as individuals behaving responsibly.
The only way to break the Covid-19 spread is when every individual behaves with responsibility and stays indoors for at least 48 hours or 72 hours.
The year 2021 gives us an ideal start to break the Covid-19 spread.
If each one of us decides to stay indoors from Friday through Sunday, I am sure we can enter 2021 with daily cases in double digits.
When every individual steps out this weekend don’t just think I won’t get it or carry it but rather think of those frontline workers who have not seen their near and dear ones for months together, those who do not have a job, those infected.
I would go as far as to say that every individual who ventures out to meet people has to consider himself or herself as guilty of “abetment to suicide” or “culpable homicide”.
The choice is ours: Bounce back to normalcy or limp towards the illusory normalcy for months/years.
Wishing everyone a happy healthy and Covid-19 free 2021.
