These are exceptional circumstances that we are all going through – be they political, social, economic or those related to health.
All in all, these are harsh times for the government, citizens and residents.
In spite of all that’s going on, our wise government has committed itself to take care of the demands of the people as a result of which it will certainly come under a huge financial burden.
The government, despite its limited resources and capabilities, continues its developmental works and infrastructural projects like housing, health, education and other basic services.
Bahrain, like so many other countries, has suffered from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic but I am appalled at the continued indifference of many so-called social and charitable organisations who are involved in the welfare of the youth, women and others.
What have they done, may I ask? When will they wake up from the coma they are in and involve themselves in various events that are unfolding every day? When will they contribute towards the Bahraini society and abide by the duties for which they were formed?
Unfortunately, the role of these societies is seriously flawed. These organisations should have made all efforts to complement the role of the national medical team to combat the coronavirus and helped spread awareness as well as educate the nation. They should have fanned out among students, visited shopping centres, created print and audio-visual media and post about their activities on social media.
What we are, instead, seeing is malicious rumours by individuals, societies and groups that destroy the peace and do nothing good for our beloved nation.
These days, creating positivity is very easy with the availability of social media platforms. The associations could easily have made very useful contributions. There is no harm in everyone, regardless of their specialty, in making a contribution in a positive way.
Let us all work in the one-team spirit as our motto and work hand in hand with official government agencies to achieve the desired goals.
