THE Interior Ministry yesterday dismissed rumours circulating on social media about the health of convict Abdulla Isa Al Mahroos.
The director general of reformation and rehabilitation said the 56-year-old inmate was being granted all rights as mentioned in the reformation and rehabilitation law and its regulations.
This included full healthcare, he added pointing out that the convict was diabetic and required an additional prescription of medicines to treat his condition.
He has apprised his family of his condition through phone calls he was allowed to make as per rules applicable to all inmates, the official added.
The director general said medicines were regularly prescribed to the inmate by the physicians according to his health condition.
Healthcare provided to all inmates are comprehensive and meet all legal and humanitarian standards, he said.
