KENYANS in Bahrain have been urged to adhere to the laws and regulations of the kingdom.
The advisory comes amidst reports that a number of Kenyans have been arrested and jailed in Bahrain for disorderly conduct and violating the laws.
The notice was issued by the Kenyan Embassy in Kuwait and addressed to the “Kenyan diaspora” in Bahrain.
“The embassy is concerned that of late the cases of unlawful acts by Kenyans have become increasingly rampant further raising concerns with Bahrain’s authorities due to the high numbers of Kenyans in detention, deportation centres and in government shelters,” said the embassy.
“Some of the common behaviours involving Kenyans include illegal sale of alcohol; drunkenness and disorderly conduct in public spaces along with fighting and altercations in public; prostitution, illegal massage parlours and house parties; lack of proper residence documentation and immigration offences; high illicit pregnancy cases and changing employment with no regard to labour laws.
“In view of the above, the embassy wishes to caution Kenyans against involvement in these illegal acts and encourage observance of the laws and regulations of the host country.”
