Here’s an appeal to government from a long-time resident.
Cinemas have been very much a consistent source of quality entertainment to me and my friends over last many years that we have spent in Bahrain.
I have been residing in this beautiful country – that I happily refer to as my home – for more than 11 years. Over this time, prior to Covid-19 and related restrictions, there hadn’t been a single week in which I didn’t visit a cinema.
It’s an industry very well run by companies like Cineco, VOX etc, where if the authorities defined even the strictest of standard operating procedures, they would be easily ensured of compliance.
Perhaps the government could take some of the suggested measures to help minimise the severe impact and losses the industry has had to bear over the past year and reopen this quality entertainment source to Bahrain’s population.
1. Cinema is open to vaccinated customers only (original health-card should be shown). Alternatively, half ticket cost for vaccinated people or twice ticket price for non-vaccinated customers. Such measured may help the government to encourage more people to opt for the vaccine as well.
2. Gap of three empty seats on each side of an occupied seat
3. Gap of one row after every row.
4. No popcorn or food counters allowed
5. All customers to keep their masks on at all times during the movie. Violators may be fined BD50 on the spot.
6. No children below age three allowed in.
