MANAMA: Public Security chief Lt General Tariq Al Hassan chaired a National Disaster Management Committee meeting, held remotely, in the presence of representatives of ministries concerned.
He praised Bahrain’s efforts and the role of medical teams to protect public safety and health and mitigate the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
He expressed regret over the recent increase in number of infections due to laxity by some in adhering to prescribed precautionary measures.
He praised directives of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa to implement strict preventive measures to ensure public safety and personal protection.
The meeting reviewed challenges and plans to deal with emergencies in 2021 to help curb dangers caused by disasters and crises, and raise efficiency and readiness.
The committee also reviewed a report by the Bapco chief executive on the national oil spill exercise and contingency plans related to oil spills, water security and natural gas.
Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry Under-Secretary for Municipalities Affairs Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said necessary arrangements have been put in place to deal with emergencies during the rainy season.
