MANAMA: A stark warning has been issued against recklessness after more than 50 employees of a company tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Health Ministry yesterday said the firm failed to abide by guidelines put in place to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Fifty-one employees were found to be infected.
Public health officials received information about a firm violating health protocols, the ministry said.
“A field visit was organised and tests were conducted. Inspectors found several violations at the firm.
“Action has been taken and officials were urged to comply with directives.”
The GDN yesterday reported about a 67-year-old Bahraini man who infected 14 others – 12 of whom work for his company. It was revealed by the ministry as part of contact tracing measures.
A 39-year-old Bahraini man was also found to have infected 11 people from three households.
The pandemic is far from over, the Health Ministry said, urging citizens and residents to keep their guard up and exercise utmost caution to limit its spread.
“The most important measure is to maintain social distancing and avoid gatherings.
“Wearing masks, hand sanitising as well as taking the vaccine can contribute to the elimination of this pandemic.”
The ministry reiterated its call for the public to register for Covid-19 vaccines.
“The virus poses a danger to everyone – especially children, the elderly and those with chronic illnesses.
“Recklessness of one individual can lead to spread of the virus in society,” it added.
Random morning and evening screening campaigns have been stepped up in various regions of the country. Inspections are also being intensified in a bid to crack down on violators.
