Qatar Engineering Laboratories (QEL) specialises in geotechnical investigation (both onshore and offshore), concrete structural investigation, topographic survey, bathymetric survey and quality checking of all types of construction materials and water.
Since its establishment in the kingdom, under the guidance and supervision of its managing director K G Baburajan who has over 40 years of experience in the field, QEL is proud to have carried out more than 2,000 projects and be part of all major developments in the country.
These projects range from the initial ground investigation of Dilmunia Health Island to the recent expansion of the existing Tubli Water Pollution Control Centre.
It is a great honour that QEL was selected and appointed as the geotechnical contractor by ADP Ingénierie to carry out ground investigation works for Bahrain International Airport’s modernisation programme.
QEL carried out an extensive detailed geotechnical investigation including laboratory testing and prepared factual and interpretive reports with information necessary for the design of Power Station Five both for the owner Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) and for their engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor Gama Power Systems.
Extensive Karst investigation was also carried out in the project area by geophysical survey methods such as microgravity, multichannel analysis of surface waves, ground-penetrating radar and wide-spread probe drilling.
The company employs over 250 qualified members of staff including engineers, laboratory technicians, chemists, geologists, drillers, surveyors and technical staff who are supported by an extensive quality control and quality assurance department.
QEL’s accredited management system is ISO 9001 – 2015 certified by Bureau Veritas and it is accredited to ANS/ISO/IEC 17025–2017 by the International Accreditation Services.
QEL is approved by the Works and Housing Ministries, Electricity and Water Authority and is also an approved vendor for major companies like Alba and Bahrain Petroleum Company.
