A MUGGER who stabbed a driver and stole BD150 from him after hitching a ride has been jailed for life.
The 27-year-old Bahraini was found guilty of theft and assault by the High Criminal Court yesterday.
He posed as a hitchhiker and told his Pakistani victim to drive him to Hamad Town on June 20 last year. He then stabbed the victim twice with a knife before fleeing with BD150 he had in his car.
The defendant had been earlier jailed in connection with similar incidents, the court said in its ruling.
“In this case he posed as a hitchhiker and told his victim to drive him to Hamad Town.
“The defendant saw the victim taking money from the car’s glove compartment, where he had kept BD150.
“He then planned the attack as he asked the victim multiple times if he was a policeman.
“The victim was confused, but decided to drop the man home.
“The defendant then stabbed him and fled with BD150.”
The victim identified his assailant in court.
