Abu Dhabi: A UAE national spotted the poisonous red house spiders twice at home in the mountainous area in Ghalila.
He alerted the municipal authorities in the Emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah, which dispatched a team specialized in combating dangerous insects to deal with situation.
Emirati Mohammed Al-Ameri said that he first spotted the red house spider as it was laying eggs in a hidden corner of his house.
Then his children discovered another one the following day as they were playing in the house courtyard.
The incident sparked a call for people to clean their houses and take care of their children as precautionary measures, as scorching summer heat pushes all sorts of insects out.
The red house spider often makes its web inside the home because it prefers cool, dark undisturbed locations such as cupboards and the corners of closets, according to a report in Emarat AlYoum.
