Saudi Arabia has announced that work is progressing well on seven major residential suburbs being developed in major cities across the kingdom under its Sakani Housing programme. Once completed, it will add 146,500 new homes into the kingdom's real estate market.
These residential suburbs are coming up on a total area of more than 53 million sq m in partnership with a number of real estate developers from the private sector.
Al Gwan suburb, spread over a 4700 sq m area in the north of Riyadh, has 14 housing projects under construction, which on completion, will provide more than 73,000 housing units.
Al-Jawhara suburb, located in Jeddah Governorate, is characterized by a growth in implementation rates according to the timetables set for it.
It includes 20,000 housing units in a strategic location in the north of Jeddah Governorate on the Al-Haramain Expressway opposite King Abdullah Sports City, about 5 minutes away from Al Madinah Expressway, and about 15 minutes from King Abdulaziz International Airport and Jeddah Corniche.
Al Mayar residential suburb in Jeddah provides more than 20,000 housing units, including: (Ruba Jeddah, Upper Jeddah, Sunset Hills), and a number of future projects will be launched to provide thousands of new housing units. For about 100,000 people within an integrated urban environment, said the statement from Sakani.
The Khayala is the third within the residential suburbs located in Jeddah governorate, featuring 3,500 housing units. Extending over an area of more than 1.5 million sq m, Khayala is witnessing progress in construction work despite its short lifespan, it stated.
The Al Wahha suburb located in the city of Dammam on over a 9 million sq m area, boasts more than 20,000 housing units, while Al Sadeem suburb spanning more than 4.9 million sq m in Khamis Mushait features over 5,000 housing units. On completion, these residential units can accommodate more than 33,000 people.
The Al Dar neighbourhood in Madinah will be home to 5,000 units, which are distinguished by their location within the boundaries of the Prophet's Mosque and their modern design inspired by the urban heritage of architecture, it added.
According to Sakanai, all these residential suburbs have a modern concept of housing that meets the needs and aspirations of the Saudi families. It includes all educational, health and commercial facilities, in addition to green spaces, sports and recreational centers to boost their quality of life, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
