Kuala Lumpur: The Bahrain national football team has arrived in Malaysia to take part in the third round of the 2023 Asia Cup qualifiers which will be held in Kuala Lumpur from Wednesday to June 14.
Bahrain have been drawn in Group E, which includes hosts Malaysia, in addition to Bangladesh and Turkmenistan.
The national team will play Bangladesh on Wednesday before facing Malaysia on June 11 and Turkmenistan on June 14.
Six teams topping their groups will qualify to the 2023 AFC Cup, along with five best second-placed teams. Fourteen teams have already booked berths in the continental tournament.
Led by coach Helio Sousa, the national team comprises 24 players – Abbas Ayyad, Jamal Rashid, Mohammed Abdulwahab, Ahmed Abdulla, Ahmed Boughmar, Mahdi Humaidan, Mohammed Adel, Omar Saber, Ammar Mirza, Sayyed Dhiya Said, Sayyed Shebber Alawi, Abdulla Al Hazza, Ali Haram, Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, Abdulla Youssef, Ammar Mohammed, Ibrahim Al Khattal, Mahdi Abduljabbar, Mahdi Abdullatif, Abdelwahab Al Malud, Amine bin Udai, Rashid Al Hooti, Sayyed Mohammed Jaffer and Waleed Hayyam.
Bahrain beat Myanmar 2-0 before edging Thailand 2-1 in two friendly matches in Bangkok as part of their training camp in Thailand last month.
