NEW YORK: The US Geological Survey reports that a magnitude-5.3 earthquake has hit Tibet.
The Chinese news agency Xinhua says the temblor hit Litang County, Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Garze, in China's Sichuan Province at 1.23am on Friday. The agency cited the China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC).
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The quake hit about 104km southwest of Rulong.
The quake's epicentre had a depth of about 40km, according to the USGS.
