BAHRAIN’S champions excelled in the Asian Triathlon Cup, organised by the Bahrain Triathlon Association in Diyar Al Muharraq, most notably Mohammed Mubarak, who took third place in the 16-20 age group, behind winner Abdulaziz Al Huwaidi and Abdullah Al Muqahwi, who finished second.
The race was held in two sections, the first for professionals and the second for amateurs with athletes from 24 countries in the fray. There were 34 men and 26 women in the professionals’ competitions and 400 in amateurs. Sweden’s Gabriel Sandor won the men’s professional race while the women’s race was won by Alissa Koning of Switzerland.
