FOUR Taiwanese films will be screened over the coming weeks as part of the 2016 Taiwan Film Festival.
The screening will take place every Wednesday at the Shaikh Ebrahim Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research, Muharraq.
The Assassin will kick off the festival on October 26, following an opening reception which begins at 7pm. Set in ninth-century China, the film follows 10-year-old Nie Yin-niang, a general’s daughter who is abducted by a nun. The girl is initiated into martial arts and is transformed into an exceptional assassin charged with eliminating cruel and corrupt local governors.
But when it is discovered that she is not as ruthless as she seems to be, Nie Yin-niang is punished and sent back to her birth place where she must kill the man to whom she is betrothed.
To My Dear Granny will be screened on November 2, followed by One Minute More on November 9 and Second Chance on November 16.
