The 19th round of the Nasser Bin Hamad Premier League got off to a thrilling start as Muharraq managed to score in additional time to hold East Riffa to a 2-2 draw last night.
A header by Waleed Al Hayam in stoppage time helped Muharraq to stay on course for the title. Both Muharraq and Manama are on 34 points, but the latter will emerge as leaders if they win their 19th round match tonight.
Earlier, Al Hayam put Muharraq ahead in the 28th minute after receiving a pass from Mohammed Banna as they led 1-0 at half-time. East Riffa found the equaliser in the 67th minute through a penalty shot by Prince and took the lead in the 82nd minute when Salem Al Doseri latched on to a fine pass from Prince and finished well.
Meanwhile, Al Ahli and Bahrain Club played out a 1-1 draw in another 19th round match last night.
In their 18th round matches, Muharraq had outplayed Al Shabab 5-0 while East Riffa held Al Khaldiya to a 1-1 draw.
The 19th round games continue tonight when Budaiya take on Hidd and Manama clash with Al Shabab. Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 9.45pm.
