Riffa claimed their first victory of the season easing past Al Hidd 4-1 in the second round of the 2023-24 Nasser Bin Hamad Premier League at the Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium in Arad yesterday.
Kamil Al Aswad put Riffa ahead in the 11th minute and teammate Joel Vinicius extended the lead in the 41st minute. Al Hidd, however, managed to pull one back through Ahmed Falamarzi in the 43rd minute as Riffa led 2-1 at half-time.
Abdulaziz Khalid struck in the 72nd minute to give Riffa a 3-1 lead and Al Aswad scored his second goal of the match in additional time to wrap up Riffa’s commanding victory. Riffa were held to a 2-2 draw by Al Najma in the opening round of the tournament last week. Hidd lost 2-1 to Muharraq in their opening match.
The second-round matches continue today when Manama meet Al Hala at the Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium and Al Najma clash with Al Shabab at Al Ahli Stadium in Zinj. Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 7pm.
