Ahmed Nasser of Team Victorious claimed both the yellow and gray jerseys for the best time and the highest points in the GCC and National Team category, in the third edition of Nasser bin Hamad Amateur Cycling Tour, organised by the Bahrain Cycling Association in collaboration with Faalyat.
The race was delayed due to the weather conditions experienced in the country during the second stage held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in the Sakhir area yesterday, and the strong winds added a notable thrill to the race with the high speeds achieved by the cyclists.
The organising committee modified the distance of the second stage, reducing it from 65km to 50km, with Mohammed Al Hammadi from the UAE winning the purple jersey for the U23 category, and Vladimir bagging the pink jersey for the over 40-year-old category.
The winners in this stage were honoured by Bahrain Cycling Association president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Gulf Air’s representative Abbas Musa and Ahmed Al Hajj of Faalyat.
Abdullah Ali from the Bahrain Giants team secured the first place in the Bahraini category, with his teammate Hussain Musa finishing second, and Hassan Aqeel Thamer from the Bahrain Amateurs team taking third place.
Adel Barbary of the Dubai Police Team claimed the first place in the Gulf and National Team category, followed by Nasser in second place, and Farooq Mahoud in third place from the Dubai Police team.
Regarding the jerseys for Bahrainis, Ali secured the yellow and red jerseys, Thamer claimed the blue jersey for the U23 category, and Aqeel Abdul Amir won the jersey for the over 40 category.
The tour, organised by the Bahrain Cycling Association and Faalyat, is supported and sponsored by the General Sports Authority, Bapco, Batelco, Gulf Air, as well as the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Royal Bahrain Hospital, Team Victorious Bahrain, and GWM Cars Company.
