It gives me great honour and pleasure to convey my warm greetings, and heartfelt felicitations to the Sri Lankan community residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and friends, on this auspicious occasion of 76th Independence Day of Sri Lanka which falls today.
May I take this opportunity to express my sincere greetings and good wishes to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Government and people of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
In bilateral sphere, Sri Lanka and Bahrain have always enjoyed excellent relations based on mutual respect and shared values. I wish to see these ties expand into the areas of Trade, Tourism and Investment, Health and Education for the mutual benefit of both countries.
I would also like to acknowledge with appreciation for the unstinted support and co-operation extended by the Kingdom of Bahrain to Sri Lanka at regional and international forums.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Kingdom of Bahrain has always taken an active role in our community’s social and cultural life, through its various public diplomacy and community outreach programmes. The ‘Abiman’ Sri Lankan cultural event has been organised to celebrate the 76th Independence Day of Sri Lanka on February 16 at Bahrain Cultural Hall. This will be a landmark event in further enriching people-to-people contacts between our two friendly countries.
Finally, let me thank the Sri Lankan associations and the Sri Lankan community in Bahrain for their kind support and co-operation extended towards making the 76th Anniversary of Sri Lanka’s Independence Day celebrations a success.
- Her Excellency Mrs H.M.G.R.R.K. Wijeratne Mendis, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain
