BASKETBALL – Bader Abdulla scored a game-high 23 points along with two rebounds and two assists as Muharraq claimed an easy 111-69 victory over Al Hala in the fifth round of the Bahrain Basketball League Top Six tournament at the Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town last night.
Muharraq were dominant from the start taking the opening quarter 31-17 and stayed ahead in the second quarter, which they won 33-23, to lead 64-40 at half-time. Al Hala’s hopes of making a comeback after the interval were dashed by Muharraq who won the third quarter 24-16 and wrapped up the game with another dominant display in the final session (23-13).
Mohamed Nasser supported Abdulla with 15 points, six rebounds and thee assists while Baqer Isa chipped in with 14 points, five rebounds and six assists. Ali Shukralla contributed 10 points while Ricky Ledo and Ali Hussain added nine each. Ahmed Khalifa was the top scorer for Al Hala with 20 points, four rebounds and five assists.
On Thursday, Manama bounced back from a five-point deficit at half-time to defeat Al Ahli 86-73 in their fifth-round game. Mohamed Ameer paced Manama with 18 points, five rebounds and one assist.
The final encounter of the fifth round will be held tonight, when Al Ettihad take on Al Najma at the Khalifa Sports City. The game is scheduled to begin at 9.30pm.
