The capital of Oman, Muscat, has topped the Arab towns on the Sustainable Cities Mobility Index for 2017.
The survey which was published by Amsterdam-based Arcadis has also ranked Muscat 83rd worldwide, according to Oman Daily Observer.
The index scrutinises mounting pressures facing cities and policy-makers due to mounting urban mobility challenges.
The top 10 cities ranked on the Sustainable Cities Mobility Index for 2017 include Hong Kong, Zurich, Paris, Seoul, Prague, Vienna, London, Singapore, Stockholm and Frankfurt.
In the Middle East, Muscat is followed by Doha (93), Cairo (94), Kuwait City (97), Riyadh (98), Amman (99) and Jeddah (100).
“As rapid urbanisation, aging infrastructure, population growth and climate change continue to challenge our world’s cities, those that choose to make bold moves in advancing and diversifying their urban transport systems will gain a competitive advantage,” said the 2017 report.
