Ministry of Interior team drubbed Health Ministry team 11-1 in a Group 1 match of the sixth Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League on Tuesday.
Khalifa Faisal netted a brace for Ministry of Interior and won the man of the match award.
In another Group 1 encounter, Foreign Ministry team won a five-goal thriller against Ministry of Information. The winning team’s Ali Mohammed took home the man of the match award.
In Group 2, Ministry of Transportation and Communications team secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce team. Abada Al Mulla of Ministry of Transportation and Communications was named the player of the game for his outstanding performance.
In the last match of the day, Ministry of Finance thrashed Ministry of Housing 11-1 in Group 2. Ali Al Rumaihi helped the winners with a superb hat-trick, en route to winning the man of the match award.
Meanwhile, Bahrain Polytechnic Human Resources and Information Affairs executive vice-president Shaikh Ali bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa attended the matches, held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, Bahrain Athletics Association president and Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation honorary president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Tuesday’s matches were also attended by Muharraq Governorate Municipal Council chairman Mohammed Al Sinan, Southern Governorate Municipal Council chairman Ahmed Al Ansari and Southern Governorate Municipal Council member Yousif Al Sabbagh.
Shaikh Ali said that Shaikh Khalid’s initiatives for Bahraini youth contribute to the enhancement of their talents in various fields, especially sports. “Shaikh Khalid has undertaken the task of providing leading initiatives to Bahraini youth in various fields to enhance the role of youth in developing the kingdom in different areas.
“The league stands out among Shaikh Khalid’s initiatives as one of the most important sports youth forums that unite a wide range of members of Bahraini society in competition for the title.”
Al Sinan said that the league has become one of the distinguished competitions that give the youth the opportunity to compete as well as display their abilities and potential.
The league, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs in partnership with Shaikh Khalid’s Media Office, concludes on Monday. It is held this year with the wider participation of youth centres, national clubs, young women, disabled individuals, ministries and communities.
