Dubai: Indian citizens going abroad for employment or education may soon have to register details with their government, failing which their passports may get revoked, suspended or cancelled.
If the draft Emigration Bill 2019 gets approved, violators may also have to pay a fine of Rs10,000.
Indian Ministry of External Affairs has posted the 51-page bill on their website.
Indians who have lived abroad for not less than three years are exempted.
Last November, the Indian government passed a rule to make online registration mandatory for non-ECR passport holders going abroad for employment in 18 countries. However, the move was deferred after facing protest from expatriates.
