A joint Omani-Swiss team have found more meteorites across the country, Times of Oman reported.
Specialists working with the Public Authority for Mining (PAM) teamed up with the Natural History Museum in Berne, Switzerland.
Last year, the team collected 352 metorites weighing 53 kilogrammes in the Gulf nation.
"The joint Omani-Swiss team started its field research in the middle of last month (January) as part of a programme which is scheduled to be concluded in mid-February," said a PAM statement.
PAM and the Swiss Natural History Museum have signed a memorandum of understanding to collect, study, classify and conserve Omani meteorites from hazards since 2001.
The influx of meteorites weighing more than 10 grams is estimated at 36 to 116 meteorites per million square kilometres per year, which means that there are 11 to 36 meteorites per year on the Sultanate’s land.
