His Majesty the King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has praised the recent victory attained by Cordoba in the Spanish League second division season opener.
Cordoba defeated Lorca Deportiva 1-0 in the Segunda División B. The sole goal of the match was scored by Italian striker Federico Piovaccari in the fifth minute.
Shaikh Nasser said that the winning start is an indicator of more victories in the coming matches. “The name of the Kingdom of Bahrain has been clearly visible in several sports activities and arenas, including football, as Paris FC represents ‘Victorious Bahrain’ in the French league and Cordoba in the Spanish league. This has contributed to highlighting the kingdom’s name and promoting its achievements in all fields, considering the popularity of both the French and Spanish leagues,” he said.
Shaikh Nasser added, “The Bahraini administration of Cordoba football club has implemented several technical and administrative reforms, in addition to setting an ambitious strategy, which would take the team to the path of victories and more achievements. The team administration has shown interest in improving the technical side by contracting with skilled technical staff who are capable of leading the team, as well as signing a select group of players who will constitute a valuable addition to the team.”
The club has signed 10 new players, under the leadership of coach Juan Sabas, former striker of Atletico Madrid and Real Betis.
