Mansour Kasse led Samaheej to an exciting 75-74 victory over Riffa in the fourth round of the Zain Bahrain Basketball League at the Zain Arena in Um Al Hassam yesterday.
Excitement reigned throughout the game with both teams fighting hard to take each quarter. Riffa finished on top in the first quarter (26-22) only to go down 15-18 in the second as they held a one-point lead at half-time.
Samaheej seized the lead after moving ahead by four points in the third quarter (20-16) and set the stage for a thrilling climax. Riffa came agonisingly close to victory but Samaheej managed to hang on to a slender one-point lead.
Later, Manama eased past Nuwaidrat 100-83.
Riffa suffered their second straight loss after having gone down to Al Najma 85-87 in the third round while Samaheej, who were beaten 60-80 by Muharraq in the third round, registered their third win this season. They beat Isa Town 80-64 in the first round and later edged Bahrain Club 75-72.
