Eight schools have so far signed up to rely on hi-tech buses to transport their students. Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has sealed an agreement in this regard with Dubai Modern School, Al-Ittihad Private School – Al-Mamzar branch, Al-Ittihad Private School - Jumeirah branch, American School, St. Mary School, Ontario International Canadian School, Heartland School and Dar Al-Maarifa School.
DTC Executive Director Dr Youssef Al-Ali said that the new system will benefit around 3000 students. The new eco-friendly buses are equipped with surveillance cameras connected to designated monitors at the DTC’s control centre. Students, who are commuting from and to their respective schools or homes, will be monitored on their buses.
The hi-tech buses are also fitted with The Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite tracking system. Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) is planning to increase the fleet of school buses by 450%, from 142 at present to more than 650 by 2021.
