Mohammad Fakhreddine is on course for a speedy return to the cage despite suffering a torn ACL ahead of his scheduled clash with Thiago Vieira at Brave: The Beginning.
His doctor has revealed that “The Latest” is not only a fighter inside the cage, but outside as well and went as far as to predict a relatively “quick” return considering the nature of the injury.
“The Latest” suffered heartache after getting injured in his final preparations for Brave 1, losing out on his main event purse and of course, the career boost he would have gained from a big performance on that stage.
However, Fakhreddine was philosophical after the news broke out and promised he’d bounce back from this setback. Now, following reconstruction of his ACL, his doctor TarekGherbalhas given further confirmation that “The Latest” will be back in the cage, doing what he does best in the not-so-distant future.
Injury
Doctor Gherbal said: “Fakhreddine suffered a torn ACL a couple of weeks ago, during his preparation for his fight at “Brave”. He did an ACL reconstruction surgery on Monday October 3, 2016, with Dr Alfred Khoury. Surgery was completely successful.”
Fakhreddine is a major star in the Middle East, who became a feared fighter in Desert Force, and this news will serve as a great boost to his fans after the disappointment in the weeks leading up to Brave.
Now that his surgery has been cleared as a success by the doctor, the long road back to the cage truly begins for this formidable fighter. His injury was compared to that suffered by UFC Welterweight legend George St Pierre, who not only conquered this setback, but went on to regain his title.
Doctor Gherbal also revealed that Fakhreddine’s road back to the cage is underway and gave a massively uplifting message to his fans and admirers around the world.
“We started rehab few days ago and today 1 week post-op, he’s a great shape and his recovery is looking promising,” he said. “Usually I don’t like giving estimation for recovery time; every rehab journey is different and might go through ups and downs.
“A classical return after ACL reconstruction is 6 months but MMA is a very demanding sport; it took George Saint Pierre 18 months. I expect Fakhreddine’s recovery to be swift and fast because he’s determined and hard-working.”
