A Welsh artist, who goes by the name ‘Tee2Sugars’ (Tee), was among millions of people who watched the viral video of Anne Hughes getting caught in the shutters of the 'Best One' convenience store in Tonteg.
Ms. Hughes, who works at the store, was waiting outside for the shutters to open with a trolley.
Abruptly, her coat got caught in the shutters, causing her to hang upside down, as she held onto her shopping cart and a nearby bin.
CCTV footage showed the 71-year-old lady being lifted off the ground, and shouting for help.
Fortunately, the store manager immediately rushed to her aid, lowering the shutter and assisting her back to the ground safely.
When artist Tee stumbled upon the video capturing the hilarious incident, he commented “I’ve seen it, I shared it with my wife, (and) we had a little bit of a chuckle.”
He told the PA news agency, that at first, “I didn’t really think anything of it after that… until the shop owner got in touch. He said ''we would like to encapsulate or immortalise Anne on the shutter.’’ As soon as he said that he didn’t have to finish the rest of the sentence. I said ‘yeah, I’ll be on my way.'”
The 33-year-old artist managed to complete his piece in just two hours, stating he was ''happy enough with the result due to the tricky canvas and the grainy CCTV footage.’’
Tee worked late on Thursday to finish his art piece, and went back to the shop the following day to reveal his painting to Ms. Hughes. As well as to get a glimpse of how it looked in the daylight.
Once MS. Hughes saw the artistic representation of her clumsy incident, she got to have a little moment with the artist himself, conveying ''you’ve captured it perfectly!’’
According to Tee, Ms. Hughes was happy with the result. He added that ''she was such a good sport about it as well… It’s not something that’s going to change her life but it’s a funny moment that’s going to be remembered forever.”
The painting is situated on the doorway shutter, and thus has opening hours from 9pm – 7am.
In other words, anyone who would like to view the artwork would have to visit either late at night or early in the morning.
