SAUDI Arabia’s Qiddiya Investment Company, a real estate developer backed by the Public Investment Fund, will construct the world’s first ‘Dragon Ball’ theme park outside Riyadh, the franchise owner announced yesterday, reported by Arab News.
The park will be over 500,000 square metres and will feature seven areas that recreate various iconic sites from the original series, including Kame House, Capsule Corporation and Beerus’ Planet, according to a report in Arab News.
Visitors will be able to join an adventure with Goku from the beginning of the anime all the way to “Dragon Ball Super”.
There will be five state-of-the-art rides among more than 30 attractions as well as a 70-metre-high statue of Shenron, the magical dragon from the series, containing a large rollercoaster ride within Qiddiya City, a plot of desert around 40 minutes from the capital that has been marked for development as an entertainment district, with plans for a stadium, several hotels and restaurants, a water park, a Six Flags park and golf courses.
The country has a target of 150 million tourists a year by 2030, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has positioned video games and entertainment as a pillar of the country’s future growth.
Qiddiya posted a video on the company’s YouTube channel on Wednesday showing a rendition of the park.
