Bahrain Table Tennis Federation (BTTF) president and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa received the Bahrain Club men’s table tennis team, the West Asian champions, on their return yesterday from the tournament in Jeddah.
Present on the occasion were Bahrain Club president Dr Abdulrahman Al Khashram, BOC’s National Centre for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation director Dr Muayyad Al Alawi, and other members of the federation and the club.
The BOC also organised a reception for the A’ali women’s table tennis team, who also won the title at the West Asian Championship.
They were received by BTTF vice president Ali Al Madeh, board member Sayed Jaafar Hadi, and Dr Al Alawi.
Speaking on the occasion, Shaikha Hayat said that these achievements are an extension of the successes achieved by Bahrainis in various sports events.
She praised His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for their keenness to support all sports clubs and federations, which contributes to Bahrain’s achievements in international events.
She congratulated the players for their achievements and wished them success in future events, adding that their performances confirm Bahrain’s growth in table tennis.
She also praised the efforts of the officials of the two clubs.
