Bahrain’s mixed martial arts hero and the Middle East’s top bantamweight fighter Hamza Kooheji is gearing up for his return to the cage at BRAVE CF 82 in Mauritius on May 11.
Kooheji’s last bout was in the main event of BRAVE CF 65 in Bahrain, where he faced off against Eduardo Mora in a featherweight contest. After a thrilling three-round battle, Kooheji emerged victorious with a decision win.
Following this triumph, Kooheji took more than a year off from fighting due to various injuries, most notably a lengthy recovery due to a knee surgery. Now, the ‘Pride of Bahrain’ is preparing to make his comeback at BRAVE CF’s historic event in Mauritius.
One of the pioneers of the sport in Bahrain, Kooheji got an opportunity to train at KHK MMA early in his career after he captured the attention of none other than Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee president and BRAVE CF founder Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. At KHK MMA, Kooheji was able to elevate his skill set by training alongside the biggest names in the world of MMA.
With the newly acquired skills, Kooheji was able to establish himself as the biggest MMA superstar from Bahrain. He rose through the ranks of BRAVE CF after making his promotional debut at the inaugural event of the organisation in 2016.
Over the years that followed, Kooheji fought nine times in BRAVE CF, in turn, inspiring the next generation of MMA stars from his nation. He currently boasts an impressive record of 8-2 in BRAVE CF and had challenged for the BRAVE CF bantamweight title at BRAVE CF 57.
An integral part of the KHK MMA team, Kooheji is now set to resume his pursuit of championship glory in BRAVE CF as he prepares for his return at BRAVE CF 82.
A former title challenger himself, Kooheji will be closely watching the main event of BRAVE CF 82, where bantamweight champion Nkosi Ndebele will defend his title against Jose ‘Shorty’ Torres.
BRAVE CF 82 will mark the debut event of BRAVE Combat Federation in Mauritius and the fourth event in the African continent for the organisation. The event will be the latest chapter in BRAVE CF’s efforts to elevate MMA in Africa as the only international MMA organisation to host events on the continent.
