Doha: Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada inaugurated 'Made in Qatar 2016' exhibition in Saudi Arabia.
Organized by Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the expo will continue at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center until Wednesday.
The inauguration was attended by Saudi Minister of Commerce and Investment Dr Majed bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi and Chairman of Qatar Chamber ShAikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, and a group of Qatari and Saudi businessmen.
Al Sada expressed his delight at the organization of Qatari-Saudi Economic Forum and its accompanying Made in Qatar exhibition, saying that they will introduce Qatari industry and products through the participation of more than 250 exhibiting companies.
He added that Saudi Arabia is a partner in development and in commercial and industrial exchanges.
Trade between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, His Excellency the Minister said, amounted to about QR8.6 billion in 2015 after it was QR7.1 billion in 2011 with the average growth rate of about 4.9%, pointing out that the State of Qatar is looking forward to strengthening relations more broadly in the coming years.
He noted the importance of creating real and sustainable development in the GCC by attaching more attention to the industrial sector, pointing out that the contribution of the industrial sector in the GDP of the GCC countries accounted for 10 per cent, which is low when compared to the developed countries.
