Jockey Sami Ghazwan bagged the grand prize in the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) Showjumping Championship yesterday at the Military Sports Association grounds in Sakhir.
Riding Miss Adhary, Ghazwan was flawless clocking 45.02 seconds. Finishing behind him was Ali Essa in 35.25 seconds on Vivika, but with eight penalties.
The last place on the podium went to Ahmed Mansoor on Edward Du Sud BDF clocking 40.41 seconds with eight penalties.
The winners were crowned by president of Endurance Committee Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al KHalifa while Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa rewarded the winners of other events.
Ghazwan went on to win a second contest, also on Miss Adhary clocking 33.29 seconds. He was followed by Ahmed Isa on Loopy and Ahmed Jassim on Uup Horse Pride respectively. Meanwhile, Ahmed Al Bastaki won the third event of the day while Ahmed Al Hashili was in top form among the juniors winning both the events.
