A FILM that retraces the life of singer and actress Dalida will be shown in Bahrain later this month.
The world premiere of Dalida on January 21 is part of the So French week programme and marks the first international viewing since its release in France today.
“We welcome the news that the world premiere of Dalida will take place here in Bahrain during So French week,” said French Ambassador Bernard Regnauld-Fabre in a Press statement.
“Her iconic status is well known by many and the movie has opened to critical acclaim in France.”
The film is written, directed and co-produced by Lisa Azuelos and stars Sveva Alviti as Dalida, a 1960s Italian actress born and raised in Cairo.
Throughout her career Dalida performed and recorded in more than 10 languages, including Arabic, Italian, French, English and Japanese and sold more than 130 million records worldwide before her tragic death in Paris in 1987.
The premiere will be shown at Novo Cinema in Seef Mall, Muharraq.
So French week will be held from January 18 to 23 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
