A shawarma restaurant was shut down pending investigation after 150 customers suffered food poisoning in the governorate of Terba’a.
Mecca Governor and Saudi King’s Advisor Prince Khalid Al-Faisal gave directives to set up a probe committee and conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident before submitting a detailed report, for legal action to be taken against the violators.
All the restaurant employees were referred to the hospital to undergo clinical tests in connection with the case.
A total of 141 people were admitted at the hospital for treatment while the remaining patients were referred to health centres.
Health authorities later announced that 77 patients are still undergoing treatment while the others are reportedly in stable condition.
