Kuwait City: Kuwait’s Interior Ministry has reportedly withdrawn passports from the ISIS supporters and will be deported. According to a report published in GulfNews, the ministry said, it is a precautionary measure to avert any terror attacks from the ISIS sympathisers that would jeopardise the security country. “We cannot detain them without legal grounds, but we did summon them and informed them very clearly that we were fully aware of their tendencies and orientations,” the sources said.
The report added that the state’s top security has warned the ISIS sympathisers that they are under constant surveillance and are being monitored constantly. “We are applying a zero tolerance policy towards anyone who is involved in any act of terror and under any form, be it through direct support, plotting, scheming, or harbouring suspects,” the security agency reportedly told the sympathisers.
The report published on the website added, Non-Kuwaitis, including Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens, will be deported to their home countries alongside full reports under the legal article of “Public Interest” along with full report about their orientations and activities, the sources said.
“The security database in Kuwait has details about ISIS sympathisers and extremists in Kuwait and the other GCC countries and has contributed to the arrest of several wanted elements. At least 15 Kuwaiti officers move between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to exchange information and details and to work with their Saudi counterparts on tracking and monitoring extremists,” sources said. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait were hit by three suicide bomb attacks that left more than 50 people dead.
The first two attacks took place in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province on May 22 and May 29 during Friday prayers, while the third attack happened at a mosque in Kuwait City on June 26. ISIS took the responsibility of all three blasts.
