Manama: Two Bahrainis were killed and three others were injured in a car crash in Oman. The Foreign Ministry yesterday said the accident involved 18 people, including the five Bahrainis who were on holiday.
The dead were identified as Mohammed Abdulrahim Al Hayki and Jassim Mohammed Rushtom, while the three injured Bahrainis were identified as Abdulla Abdulrahim Al Hayki, Ibrahim Mohammed Rushtom and Zuhair Rushtom.
The ministry said three cars were involved in the crash, one each from Bahrain, the UAE and Oman.
It also said, on its official Twitter account, the two Bahrainis died on the way to hospital. “The five were on a holiday trip to Salalah,” sources told the GDN. “We don’t know how the accident happened but we learned that two peope –Mohammed Al Hayki and Jassim Rushtom – died on the way to hospital. “The others were taken to hospital and one of them is critical with head injuries.
“Another reportedly suffered a spine injury and the third has a fractured leg. “Their family members have already gone to Salalah.”
The ministry could not be reached for further comment.
