A Qatari court will seal the future of a Filipina domestic worker next month who allegedly killed her newborn baby by slitting her throat. After the infanticide, the body was thrown in a garbage bin near the house of the accused's employer.
Testimonies of the employer, a doctor and another worker, who claims to have witnessed the infanticide, have been heard by the Criminal Court in Qatar.
The employer said he contacted the police after the accused's colleague informed him about the incident, reported Al Raya.
The employer also added that he was not aware that the Filipina was pregnant and that she had never shown any indications.
However, after conducting tests, medical examiners confirmed that the woman gave birth recently.
The second helper told the court, “I then saw a baby crying with traces of blood on her, but the helper asked me to leave the room,” she told the court. “She said that she wanted to kill the baby and get rid of her. She pushed me out, locked the door and covered the window with large papers, rendering it opaque. However, I could see what was happening in the room thanks to a small spot that was not covered. I saw her beat the baby on her face and attempt to strangle her. I then saw her put the knife on her neck and slit it.”
The witness added that she saw her colleague put the baby’s body in a rubbish bag and take it to the container outside the house.
The alleged killer has been remanded in custody pending the court sentence.
