Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred has been released on bail pending trial, after months in a jail in Paris for allegedly sexually assaulting a French model, according to Emarat Al Youm newspaper.
The popular singer, who paid 100,000 euros in bail, will not be able to leave Paris as French judicial authorities ordered him to wear an electronic bracelet to monitor his movement.
Lamjarred is currently facing trial in France for sexual assault after a 20-year-old French woman, identified as Laura and working in the fashion industry, accused him of rape late in October 2016.
The singer was arrested at the Marriott Champs Elysées at the 17th arrondissement of Paris on October 26.
Lamjarred, who is well known on the Arab pop music scene, had been scheduled to perform in a Paris concert hall.
His 2015 hit single “LM3ALLEM”, which earned a Guinness World Record after it was viewed 100 million times on YouTube within three months of release, is the most viewed Arabic video on YouTube with more than 400 million views.
