An 'addicted' ape was sent back to its home on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, according to Al Rai newspaper.
The animal was caught last July in an 'abnormal' state in his owner’s car at a police checkpoint in Al Salmiya neighbourhood.
The Public Prosecution charged the man with using drugs and turning the pet into an addict 'for the sake of fun'.
The General Authority for Agriculture and Fisheries (GAAF) 'deported' the animal to its native country after some months in a zoo where it underwent detoxification treatment.
GAAF officials co-ordinated with the Indonesian Embassy to fly the ape back to its natural habitat in Sumatra.
