The Austrian authorities will start enforcing a ban on the niqab and burkha in public places from October 1, according to Jazirah newspaper.
The Saudi Embassy in Vienna urged citizens visiting Austria to comply with the new legislation to avert any legal problems.
The ruling coalition government agreed last January to prohibit full-face veils in public spaces such as courts and schools.
The Austrian authorities are also considering an expanded ban on state employees wearing the headscarf and other religious symbols.
