Al Wehda edged past Al Saqr Al Abyadh 2-1 to earn three points at the start of their Nasser 10 Football Tournament campaign yesterday at Khalifa Sports City Stadium.
Team captain Hussain Hameed found the net for Al Wehda in the half-hour mark before being brought down inside Al Saqr’s box, four minutes later, and the referee pointed to the spot. Khalid Sayyar stepped in for Hameed and comfortably converted the penalty.
The match saw a tense end as Samoul Al Ser of Al Saqr reduced the deficit to a solitary goal, but the victors held out with great defending to claim full points.
