Three patients were diagnosed with the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus, or MERS-CoV, in Riyadh, according to Jazirah newspaper.
Four other employees working in the health sector have also tested positive to the viral disease, the command and control centre at the Health Ministry announced.
The Health Ministry’s regional laboratory analysed their blood samples and confirmed the results.
A private hospital was shut down as a precautionary measure as it was late in diagnosing the cases and implementing quarantine measures.
A number of in-patients and other health employees have been placed under medical supervision to detect any MERS symptoms and take the necessary measures.
