A three-month ban on outdoor summer work will take effect on Thursday (June 15) in the United Arab Emirates.
UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced the ban which starts on June 15 and runs until September 15.
Under the measure, outdoor labourers will observe a three-hour midday break from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm to avoid working under scorching summer heat.
The ministry said that the overall number of working hours shall not exceed 8 hours daily, either combining the morning and evening shifts – or any of the two shifts.
Citing updates statistics, a source from the ministry said that 66,115 firms complied last year with the three-month ban while 187 ones were found in breach.
