Thirty-five pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia since Haj flights started arriving in Mecca and the Medina, according to SPA.
The overall number of pilgrims who arrived in Saudi Arabia has so far hit 675,143 people, according to latest statistics released by the official Saudi Haj authorities.
The General Directorate of Passports said in its daily statistics that 663,860 pilgrims arrived by air; 10,796 by land; and 487 by sea, an increase of 17 per cent pilgrims compared with the same period last year.
Haj Security Forces Commander General Khalid bin Qarar Al Harbi said that 95,400 unlicenced pilgrims who came from various Saudi regions were denied access to Makkah and other holy places.
The security authorities also turned back 47,700 vehicles which were carrying illegal pilgrims in the period between July 19 and August 12.
