Omani – The Indian authorities are detaining three Omanis in connection with the child marriage case.
The Indian police had arrested five Omani nationals last week in connection with the same case.
This brings the number of Omanis who are under investigated over suspected involvement in child marriages to eight.
An official working with the Omani consulate in the City of Mumbai confirmed the arrests which happened in the state of Hyderabad last Sunday.
Speaking to Shabiba newspaper, Omani General Consul in Mumbai Mubarak Al-Hanati said that seven other compatriots had their passports seized pending investigation.
In India, marrying a girl under the age of 18 is a crime punishable by the law.
