Companies operating in Oman have been given three months' grace period to comply with the new employees’ wage protection system.
The Ministry of Manpower launched the wage-protection scheme early this month to ensure all employees are paid on time, without any delay.
The ministry is co-ordinating with the central bank to upgrade the wage protection system and launch a unified wage transfer formula.
The ministry said that the measure aims at ensuring the stability of private sector companies and enhance the standard of employee-centred services.
It issued a statement urging all private sector companies to comply with the unified transfer system to ensure their employees get their salaries on time.
It called upon employers to register their companies with the wage protection system (WPS) at the bank branches where they hold their accounts.
“The ministry urges employers to commit to wage transfers according to the new formula, starting with November 2017 wages. The ministry will grant a period of three months for employers to comply with the new formula, and will not accept any other formula after the end of February 2018,” the ministry said in a statement reported by Times of Oman.
